Reports to: Creative Lead Advisor / TMTF
Job Type: Full-time

Duration of contract: 3-year definite contract (potential to be renewed based on
organisational requirements)

The Malta Trust Foundation is a non-governmental organisation whose main purpose is to develop and implement initiatives that support children, young people and communities, that are facing particular challenges and who are at risk of poverty or social exclusion. The ‘Centre for Music and the Arts’ is the Foundation’s commitment to providing accessibility to the arts for children and young people with disabilities; currently providing Music Therapy, Adapted Music Learning, and group arts opportunities.

We are seeking a versatile and passionate Art Therapist to join our team at The Malta Trust Foundation. This role offers an enriching opportunity to provide therapeutic services to children and young people disabilities, as well as other communities, through the use of the creative arts, including visual arts, drawing, painting, and other expressive mediums.

The successful candidate will have at least five years prior experience in the field of Art Therapy and the enthusiasm to work collaboratively within a multicultural and multidisciplinary team, to create individualised and group therapuetic interventions for
the wellbeing of children and young people with disabilities.

The person interested would ideally:

  • Possess minimum five (5) years’ experience in the field of Art Therapy (HCPC registered or otherwise);
  • Have a strong sense of commitment and motivation;
  • Have the ability to build good working relationships with children, young people, parents, guardians and carers;
  • Have confidence to deliver individual and group work to children and young people with disabilities at The Malta Trust Foundation, and any other alternative settings which may include schools and day centres;
  • Have experience in managing a full-time caseload across a wide range of ages;
  • Be a good team player with strong communication skills, who is willing to be part of an initiative that has training as one of its pillars;
  • Possess versatility in approach and modalities of work; including adapted learning and innovative group music experiences to encourage positive socialisation;
  • Have experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team;
  • Possess a good awareness of professional and therapeutic boundaries.

Additional information:
This position requires evening work to accommodate post-school scheduling needs of members.
